A brief account on rice self-sufficiency issues and the evolution of farming practices in the Philippines were contextualized and sequenced through reviewing sever a literatures on rice farming practices toward self-sufficiency and sustainability. This review paper described farming practices, growth and harvesting of crops and other mechanisms. The data acquired from this review might be used to come up appropriate mechanisms on rice production in the nearby localities such as Manticao, Lugait and Naawan in Misamis Oriental Province.
